Neal Long, tenor, recently completed his Master’s Degree in Voice at the University of Kansas and continues to study with Dr. Genaro Méndez. Recent roles include Gastone in La traviata, Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte, Bill in A Hand of Bridge, King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Donald in Gallantry, John in Meet Me In St. Louis, and the title role in Candide.
A new music enthusiast, Neal has worked with many composers and premiered several works including Forrest Pierce’s Resonant Vessels and Frank Nawrot’s Vaults of Silver. He is a co-founder and member of The Meadowlark Project, a contemporary vocal ensemble in its first season.
Neal is active in the greater Kansas City area as a freelance musician and educator. He maintains a private studio and works regularly with artists and organizations as coach-accompanist and music director. Neal currently serves as soloist and section leader at Westport Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO and has recently been heard in Nevada, California, Nebraska, and Missouri as a recitalist.
